Telling Tales

I saw what you did last night And I cannot keep it inside I'm too ashamed to speak out I'm full of fear and full of doubt Yet the world will know what you did You will suffer the very same pain And some of us will look like fools And some of us will look like saints I'm telling tales, telling tales, telling tales on you Can't escape the crime I'm telling tales, telling tales, telling tales on you No way out for you this time There is no place to hide Your skin is hers; your skin is mine Your body is ash and dust We do what we do because we must I'm telling tales, telling tales, telling tales on you Can't escape the crime I'm telling tales, telling tales, telling tales on you No way out for you this time

I’m looking in the mirror And I don't know who you are I seem to recognize your face Maybe you used to be me? Time is passing us so quickly by Faster than ever before Age is creeping up on me And death is closing the door Don't know who I am And I don't know who you are We are not what we seem to be Never thought we would come this far Don’t know who I am Don’t know who you are Don’t know about anything, anyone, anymore Don't know who I am Don't know who you are Don’t know about anything, anyone, anymore What once was easy Is now just so hard The future is getting much bleaker now With every turn of the card Time is the great ruler As sturdy as they come Reflections of a life gone by Burn brighter than the sun Don't know who I am And I don't know who you are We are not what we seem to be Never thought we would come this far Don’t know who I am Don’t know who you are Don’t know about anything, anyone, anymore Don't know who I am Don't know who you are Don’t know about anything, anyone, anymore So this is how it ends Staring at my skin What once was water tight Is now so pale and thin Is it all too late now To change the way things have gone? Just where is my time machine? Just where did it all go wrong? Don't know who I am And I don't know who you are We are not what we seem to be Never thought we would come this far Don’t know who I am Don’t know who you are Don’t know about anything, anyone, anymore Don't know who I am Don't know who you are Don’t know about anything, anyone, anymore

It’s here Come to put us in our place Too long has the waiting been It’s here The end is fast approaching Too long has the waiting been It’s here And there is no time to escape Too long has the waiting been Don’t look down (at the end of the world) There is nothing to see Too long has the waiting been There is nothing (at the end of the world) No family, no friends, no belief Too long has the waiting been There is no land, no air, no sea There is no you, there is no me Too long has the waiting been Whatever was can never be There is no truth inside of me Too long has the waiting been So don’t look down (at the end of the world) There is nothing to see Too long has the waiting been

This is our first mostly vocal album in many years and we think one of our best. The vocals by Thomas and Iona are stellar and really bring something new to our music.

As with previous releases, Maurizio and Hector provide the backbone on drums and bass. I can't sing their praises highly enough. We also have guests on flute, sax and violin.

This album also features our longest composition for some time. Reflections is an 18 minute beast. Great vocals throughout, odd middle section leading to another odd middle section, some up-tempo groovy stuff and a killer chorus. And it's got mellotrons and choirs, too!

With the same musicians as the rest of the album, we recorded two additional songs (Groundfall II and Zero Matter) but they made the album far too long. I firmly believe these days that albums of 40-45 minutes in length are the absolute sweet spot. However, the two tracks (again, featuring a full band line-up) will appear as singles during 2023.

I do hope you enjoy this album and look forward to any comments/reviews you may have.

As ever, sincere thanks for supporting independent music.
