How do we really resist? Not just complain or react—but push back in a way that makes a difference.
That’s the question we take on with Resistance, Refusal, Ridicule. But we don’t just ask it—we offer a response, layer by layer, beat by beat. This isn’t your typical protest song. It’s a groove with a purpose—focused and loaded with intent.
We mean to tap into the power of language itself, collaborating with razor-sharp (and often very funny) political messaging strategist Anat Shenker-Osorio, whose voice leads much of the track. Her words aren’t just commentary—they’re the rhythm of resistance, anchoring the song with the same kinds of techniques often used by those in power to control the narrative. But here, it’s turned back on them.
The song leans into the science of message-making: say something enough times, and it starts to feel true. It’s a psychological phenomenon that Shenker-Osorio explains with cool clarity. We’ve heard it before—“Government is wasteful.” Say it often enough, and even the most skeptical minds start to nod along. We flip that script. Instead of resignation, you get refusal. Instead of despair, defiance.
And the message is clear: civil resistance isn’t just noble—it’s necessary. The track becomes a rallying cry, a looped invocation of the only force that’s ever truly toppled tyranny: the people, organized and unrelenting. Through basslines and breaks, through samples and speech, we aim to remind listeners that resistance isn’t just about shouting louder—it’s about showing up, again and again, until the lie breaks under the weight of the truth.
This isn’t protest music for the background. It’s meant to be felt, internalized, repeated. Because as Shenker-Osorio reminds us, the future isn’t set in stone. It’s up for grabs.
