I was born to the people and I lived amongst them From the time I was young, I started to learn When I spoke, people listened The animals listened, The skies listened Life for the people was hard They tilled at the rocky earth to make food grow Seeds don't take root in such rocky soil But when I spoke to the seeds, they found the earth When I spoke to the sky, the rain found the seeds And the seeds grew and grew for the people to at last have food for their tables There was a king over our land, the king was not born to our people and had no love for them He took of the things they grew for his own feasts in his castle with the locked gates He was cruel and lived well from the people's hardship The king took notice of me and summoned me to his castle to heal his child But the king was false The king had his men hold me down They held me down And the king stole my voice I felt the magic fade from me As the king smiled His eyes shone brightly As if lit by flame Begone From us, witch Your magic Is yours to command No more I fled to the forest Deeper and deeper To the old wood Where no man dare tread The old spirits of the land Came to me Nurtured me, trained me In different magic Magic from the old gods Though tempted to remain and Let my spirit forever run free And join in the dance of those in the old wood I knew I must return to reclaim my voice My people My land As I drew near The cries of the people Drowned out the song of the forest The skies darkened, the nurturing green of the forest Gave way to grey stone and blackened ashes of where once there was life I did not weep for my heart Became consumed with raging fire The king lay in wait for my return. Haughty and arrogant that while he possessed my tongue That I could do nothing to touch him Until the moment I entered his throne room With a rush of air, I spoke through the thunder His eyes grew wide as he knew what I had become You thought you could control my voice By holding my tongue You cannot chain my spirit Your power is stolen My power comes from the screams of my people Every tear that falls, every drop of blood spilt We will overcome. You are undone King no more. Tyrant dethroned

I can’t believe I get to say that Whitney Moore (Actress for things like Birdemic and Young Justice) has graciously decided to lend us her voice for this one. And she knocked it out of the park with spoken word, clean singing, and screaming vocals. This turned out even better than we hoped. Huge thanks to her and to David Dahlquist for recording her. David has produced/recorded artists like Weezer, Aurora, Tom Morello, Kesha, and more.

For the art, Monika Ghoulia read the lyrics and designed a costume and a set to bring our story to life. Big thanks to Monika and Kyle McCoy for shooting the actual pictures.

As always, thank you to Matt Very for pushing us to be our best and making this track sound HUGE.
