Cold in Berlin
There will be times there will be good times When the sunrise of your body make me think There will be friends nights misremembered I forgive them every bottle that I drink Cold flesh in the bedroom Vodka down the sink John could write this better I don’t dig the way he thinks Don’t ring me out Don’t ring me out It is the bloodstain on your body makes me hold onto this doubt Don’t ring me out There will be time there will be bad times When I filled up the corner with mistakes There will be dreams dreams misremembered And the nightmares chase me down though I’m awake Dead flesh in the bedroom Bloodstain down the sink John could write this better I don’t dig the way he thinks Don’t ring me out Don’t ring me out It is the sunset of your body makes me hold onto this doubt Don’t ring me out Just want one more cigarette Just want one more cigarette Just want one more cigarette Oh they want me to be ready but I’m not ready yet Just one more thing to regret Just one more thing to regret Just one more thing to regret Oh they want me to be ready but I’m not done yet Dead flesh in the bedroom Vodka down the sink John could write this better I don’t dig the way he thinks Don’t ring me out Don’t ring me out It is the sunset of your body makes me hold onto this doubt Don’t ring me out

‘Translators for our imploding society’ was how Artrocker described CiB’s debut ‘Give Me Walls’. Awarding it album of the month and later an album of the year. Since it’s release the band watched London burn in the 2011 riots while writing and rehearsing their follow up in the basement of a church in Rotherhithe.

Bidding a found farewell to the East London Post-Punk scene CiB have imbibed the best of the 1980s 'Our Band Could Be Your Life' albums from the fledgling alternative scene. Swans, Shellac and Sonic Youth from the US. And from the UK the chorus, reverb and delay pedals of Bauhaus, Joy Division and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Showcasing an incredible vocal range vocalist and lyricist Maya broods, purrs and screams at the state of the world and her place in it. From the harshest growl to the softest coo in the space of a chorus, one song in a higher register, the next in a lower one. We wonder who they are going to compare her to now?

The drums remain as solid as ever with pounding overdubs locking tight to future classic basslines. But it's the scale of the sound that announces itself. Haunting vocals over massive drums. Driving bass versus eerie guitar lines. If 'Give Me Walls' was dark and spiky, 'And Yet' promises to be darker, heavier, slower, faster, better.

Cold in Berlin broke of out the east London scene to play Offset festival, tour in Europe and share stages with bands as diverse as The Chapman Family, Diary of Dreams and Mater Susperia Vision. Still skint, heart broken and living on the fringes of society and acceptance, it is clear that alternative cultures romantic vision of DIY purity is no longer an option. And Yet…
