Abandon is a harrowing tale of the fragility of human experience against the backdrop of a cultural wasteland. The dystopian atmosphere moves between moments of stark despair and glimmers of hope, meditating on the resilience of the human spirit.
It hints at the act of leaving that despair behind and breaking free – to abandon that which torments us. This may mean, as Nick Cave suggests, kicking against the pricks, but it most certainly means treating those on the margins of our fast-unraveling society with compassion and empathy.
