Ancient Sands
Dawnwalker
Small men will cower In caves they stole Entrenched in fear Their worlds so small Be gone from my sight! Here be monsters! The whole world could still be open But now a fear grows The garden could still be growing But now a horde grows Serpent! Go back! To where you crawled from! Fear grows The wind blows Once crystal waters Ran clear from the mountain to the sea Glistening clearly Beckoning to come and drink And be made anew Be away Gone from my sight Retreat or Turn with fire Hold the tide With your bones so frail Lost to time Their walls will fail You’ll be devoured In the sands of time Strongholds returned To the muck and mire Be gone from my sight! Here be monsters! The quiet was still unbroken But now a horn blows Crawl on your belly! Back to your pit! Or else come, suffer! Promises are broken Faces familiar turn Fear keeps you frozen While all your houses burn Promises are broken Faces familiar turn Fear keeps you frozen While all your children burn Let the bodies pile Throw them on the fire Watch the smoke arise Drifting t’wards the light The dead ascend skywards With fire and fury In murderous rapture Dance around the fire Of burning flesh Driving out the heathens Arms aloft in glee For painted gods Stained in blood Blood Serpent! Go back! To where you crawled from! Flesh rips from bone In burning homes Deeds unforgiven Now we part Divided lands Lines are drawn In ancient sands Hold the tide With your bones so frail Lost to time Their walls will fail We all live for a moment Under the same sky But we remain on different sides

Dawnwalker return with the true follow-up to 2018's Human Ruins with 'Ages' - a portrait of a mythical world in decline. The seas swell, the forests burn and a cold wind blows for us all.

There are no two Dawnwalker records which sound the same, but each creates its own world. 'Ages' sees the band move deeper into longform, experimental metal compositions which may appeal to fans of Opeth, Wolves In The Throne Room, Kayo Dot and Tool, mixed with a prog/folk sensibility that stems form a love of King Crimson, the Moody Blues and Led Zeppelin, and pays homage to concept albums from the 1970s to the present day.
