Laughing, we spelled words Like chaos and catastrophe It was allowable destruction Tell me everything Every single thing I wanna know your story Even when it’s shocking With or without This land is holy With or without You made no mistakes With or without The things you carry With or without The leaves have no trees Closer closer closer Closer closer closer Closer closer closer Closer closer closer Listen, as I sing words like anticipation it was allowable construction A deck of cards Without the spades I’m falling through the sky and its shocking With or without Everything is holy With or without The things you carry With or without Home is far away With or without The trees have no leaves Crying crying crying Crying crying crying Crying crying crying Crying crying crying

In “Gap In The Sky”, Hollow Howl’s vocalist Rachel Mackow sings about being a child of war, about reconciling opposites, joy and catastrophe. Dark reverberating guitar lines weave in and out of the narrative, dancing with the sometimes parallel, sometimes opposing bass lines and the thunderous toms that pulse in the heart of the song.

There is a shadow here, but also uplift, a dark post-punk catchiness that brings to mind Joy Division or Siouxsie and the Banshees.
