Michrochimères is the second collaborative album between Julien Demoulin and Frédéric Dufourd, following Entre Chien et Loup (2022, Rusted Tone Recordings).

It is the result of crossed wanderings, with each piece born from a process of successive mutations, where sounds contaminate each other and recombine. It is playful and spontaneous ambient music, both serious and dreamy, welcoming and intimate. Ambient music which fosters closeness; which is warm, embodied... human. Slowly morphing synth pads cradle everyday sounds, homemade instruments, and spontaneous contributions from close ones and talented neighbors. Silences, imperfections, accidents and misunderstandings are welcomingly embraced and organically integrated as composition material.

Throughout, these compositions resonate like shelters against the increasing dehumanization and disintegration of the world. They invite contemplation, reconnection with nature as well as the most essential of emotions.

During the creation of this album, Julien explored the many lives and dreams of people in pre-neoliberal America, in Studs Terkel’s Working, while Fred followed the performative walk Vers Nulle Part by Lydie Jean-Dit Panel, inspired by Werner Herzog's On the Path to the Ice.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear some echoes of these influences.
