Pyres
This vessel shone off a bright star. The only light that remained. Crashing home comes the reckoning. Mother wept in her name. And Oh, denial, her stone embrace. To hold you tight and bring you down. There’s no shelter. For the heart. From her eyes. This time there ain’t no disconnect. The hole in your head is all that’s left. Breaking ceilings of consciousness. Mind laid bare and bereft. I shine like the cold blade of a thousand regrets. Hell’s indeed a place . Mama and me will show the way.

"YUN" showcases a band transformed.

PYRES embrace a broad palette of influences that incorporates the furious energy of High on Fire, the melodic sludge metal of early era Baroness, and even delves into the realms of doom, grunge, and post-rock.

One of many dialectic translations of the Chinese word "Yun" is “to accumulate strength” or “to hold in emotions”. The album’s narrative is autobiographical in nature with lyrics depicting a mission of healing old wounds and purging the “accumulation” of grief and guilt.
