About Star Card

Calley (vocals/guitar) and Brendan (drums) met in 2022 in an encounter fueled by offerings to Elliott Smith in a quest for perfect bandmates. Brendan invited Calley to play guitar in his heavy art rock band, Receive, and as the band grew closer, Calley shared songs from their lo-fi noise pop project, Star Card, and a second band formed. They released the Freak World EP in May 2023 to commemorate Calley’s early bedroom recordings and started to write full band arrangements to play around NYC bars and basements as a four-piece rock band.

Led by Calley, the current iteration of the band includes Jake Whitener (Sunshine Convention, Kira Skye) on guitar, Jackson Tarricone (Voicemail) on bass, and Brendan Landis (Receive, Hey Exit, Glifter) on drums. Their upcoming album Trash World was self-produced and recorded at Headless Studios in Brooklyn and mixed and mastered by Andrew Gerard Nault (drab, Lesser Glow, Forn) in Boston, and will be released by Already Dead Tapes on November 14th, 2025.

Note from Calley:

I started recording music for Star Card as a solo project during an intense grieving period in my twenties while struggling with complex PTSD. When I began to share the music I was making online and out at shows, I received encouragement from friends (and surprisingly some strangers). Sharing my recordings and playing live helped me feel less alone and offered a place where I could still share what I was going through and thinking about without being explicit about what had happened, weaving songs into fictions about characters similar to me but not me, with their own unique struggles.
