Daydream away, love's unconditional Imagine days, no dysfunction in my family name Memories distort, her love is my passage to pain Her recollection smiles, the past says anger untamed Can we reset, try to be average? Data's not on our side I'll break the cycle tonight Wanna keep me in your mold made to fit your lack of control You're getting older now you shoulda known You can't contain the world through scream and shouts Anger bouts, sowing doubt Biblical threats are empty And living is better when you get free Patterns repeat, love cloaked in poison A trauma bond disguise, another tearful goodbye If you ask me can we start over? I'll simply decide for no more cycle to ride So what if you claim to change, change your tune Reconsider everything it is that you do The only thing worse than a first chance Is to turn back around and offer two Your codependency whirlpools around And I'm dodging tides so I won't get drowned All I've ever wanted was a home to call my home A caregiver you've become, your new improved tone Offering dreams and my wishes to come true But the hidden dagger in your hand isn't new Too little too late the past is past Will you resent, regret, chalk it up to fate? You made a choice a long time ago When a child in your life needed you the most No words of affection and pressure on my skin Gonna make sure it won't happen again You trivialized, minimized, infantilized I'm grown up now, you can't pretend My daydreams say love's unconditional

The Age of Decay is my final chapter exploring the concept of Decay. It is a part of the Apocalypse arc of albums: Despair, Decay, and next: Revenge.

While The Light at the End of Decay is about finding hope at the end of the apocalypse, The Age of Decay is about the here and now. This EP is about living while the apocalypse is happening all around you and the feelings that come with it: anger, anxiety, melancholy, loss, love.

When I wrote The Light at the End of Decay, there were several songs I loved that I was unable to finish in time for the album's release. One of the songs, Decay, was literally where I got the title of the album from!! Instead of scrapping the songs or repurposing them, I wanted to keep them in tact as canon parts of the Decay storyline.

I also decided to use this EP as an opportunity to shed light on some of my favorite The Light at the End of Decay songs (and Pay No Mind) by getting them remixed. Each remix is paired with an artist I love with a song I feel really fit their vibe.

Track 1 is dedicated to Robert Garcia, a friend I lost to the Age of Decay (1989-2012)
